Located along the western banks of the Ganges, the old town of Varanasi is spread over a labyrinth of narrow galis. Be prepared to walk and greet some holy cows on foot! Varanasi is engulfed by temples at almost every turn, but the most visited and oldest of the lot is the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.For a cause, and rightly so, Benaras is known as Lord Shiva 's city.
